Mikunopolis to be streamed by NicoNicoDouga 3 comments
According to Moetron, one of my wishes for 2011 has come true after all – due to my inability to instantly jet across to the US (along with thousands of other people, I guess), I was getting depressed about the fact that I was going to be missing yet another Miku concert.
Happily though, NicoNicoDouga once again steps in, and it was announced recently that the concert would be streamed live via the Japanese video-sharing service. Tickets to the actual live show has long since been sold out, so I’m willing to bet that this will be a happy bit of news for the several people who weren’t able to get their grubby paws on a ticket.

Happy 2nd Birthday Gumi!! no comments
For once, I’m moving away from Crypton’s Vocaloids, and on to another Vocaloid by a different company who has a pretty large fanbase of her own – the reason I’m doing this should be apparent by now – yesterday, 26 June, was Megpoid Gumi’s second birthday.
Or anniversary. Depends on how you feel like looking at things. Whatever floats your boat.

Hatsune Miku – Girly Dream PV 1 comment
In keeping with the general Miku madness found here – I offer you another Hatsune Miku song. It’s not new, exactly, having been posted on Nico a little over a year ago, but I thought I would share it anyways. But before we get to the fun stuff, just a quick few updates.
The Anime Summer 2011 Preview page has been updated – I’ve added the info for Appleseed XIII which will be released on the net in the next couple of weeks – so go check that out if you’re interested – there’s a one minute PV for you to drool at as well.
The second update concerns the Animated Meanderings Facebook page, which has gotten a few additional likes and now has a total of 40. Okay, so it’s not a lot, but it’s more than the 8 I started with ^_^. So I’m happy, and want to take this oppurtunity to thank those who have been supporting me so far. Of course, it’s not in the same league as the Hatsune Miku page, which is now rapidly approaching 200,000 likes, but I never had any intention of competing there anyways :)
So … back to Miku – this isn’t a funky video so much as it is just a music track, but the track itself is almost as cute as the illustration below – click on the image to have a listen. I’ve included the romaji lyrics as well.
Mikunopolis in Los Angeles 3 comments
It looks like Miku and her fellow Vocaloids are set to continue their slow take-over and assimilation of the world. Apart from the recent airing of a Toyota advert in the US featuring Miku (the Toyota Corolla being her official car – wonder how much Toyota forked out for the pleasure), it was recently announced that Miku, Luka, Rin and Len would be strutting their stuff at the 2011 Anime Expo in Los Angeles on the 2nd of July.
Hatsune Miku PV – いいわけ Love Song 3 comments
I’m sitting with a particularly evil condition right now, commonly known throughout writer’s circles as writer’s block (yes, we’ve all been there).
So, being in a particularly evil frame of mind – I’m going to force you all to listen to a new PV that was released on NicoNico a few days ago (10th April if I’m right). Composed and arranged by Noah, with the lyrics by M.I.O – here’s いいわけ Love Song (the hiragana read as iiwake). If you like the tune (and I definitely do) – you can download it here, although you might need a Nico account to do so.
Miku’s Live Party Letdown 5 comments
A quick note: I was going to post this last week – however due to the Sendai Earthquake I’ve delayed it a bit. The Wiki page has most of the details, and it’s being updated on the go.
Miku’s Live Party 2011 has come and gone, and with it much anticipation and excitement. Those who’ve seen – and enjoyed – last year’s show were no doubt eagerly waiting for this year’s installment. For those who still haven’t seen it, and are waiting with baited breath, let me warn you now: I’m going to be ripping into this year’s show a bit.
You might find this strange; I’m sure my excitement leading up to 3/9 was pretty obvious, especially for those who follow Animated Meanderings on Facebook along with those who follow me on Twitter.
I feel it is actually quite natural for me to draw comparison’s between last year’s show and this year’s show – the 39s Thanksgiving Day concert had a big Wow-factor going for it; it was new, it was inventive, and it really blew me away. Of course, this year there was less of a surprise factor at work, so I was expecting to see at least some improvements over last year’s show.
There was a lot wrong with this show, with many many more negatives than positives – but be glad for those positives, because they actually salvaged the show to some degree. So bear with me while I bare my somewhat mixed feelings about Mikupa. Read the rest of this entry »
MikuPa to be streamed live 3 comments
Vocaloidism broke the news last week that Miku’s Live Party will be streaming live on the popular Japanese video sharing site, NicoNicoDouga (Japan’s version of YouTube, if you will) – so you’ll be able to watch the concert as it is happening. Which may be necessary even for the folks in Japan, since the concert itself is long since sold out.
If you’re planning on watching it though, there are a few catches – read on, and I’ll explain.
Hatsune Miku – Silence – MMD version 1 comment
As we move ever closer to the next live Vocaloid concert I’m spending a lot of time watching PVs of Miku, and in my mind, creating a wishlist of songs I’d love to see performed, even as I know a lot of them probably won’t be.
The following track is on the wishlist, although, being almost 9 minutes long, it’s either going to be horribly shortened, or more likely, not going to feature at all, which is a pity in my book

The Rise of Hatsune Miku 3 comments
… or so the title says, but the video I’m posing today is very much focused on that favourite Vocaloid of mine, Hatsune Miku.
In 28 days from today, the Vocaloid2 characters will be hosting their second of hopefully many more live concerts, so in the run-up to the 9th of March, expect to see a lot of Vocaloid videos popping up on Animated Meanderings. Although I’ll try and get the Spring 2011 Anime previews up in due course as well.
Miku and Co in concert again 2 comments
Most of you will probably remember this post (39s Thanksgiving concert) popping up on Animated Meanderings last year – a little slowly I admit – since I caught onto it a little late. You might also have noticed a slight trend – before then, Vocaloids received nary a mention on the blog, but since that time Miku and her fellows have featured a few times.
Finding out about, and then actually watching that concert converted me from someone who was vaguely aware of the Vocaloids into a full-blown fan, although my fandom is mostly concentrated on the four Vocaloids from Crypton Future Media – Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin and Len, and Megurine Luka. Since I got my grubby little paws on the eventual DVD release (and boy, did I wait for that to arrive) – I should probably organise a review at some point in time.
