|Synopsis: Humanity has obtained a technology known as Mana, which is similar to magic, and has used its power to solve all problems like wars, poverty and suffering, ushering the Earth into an age of peace and prosperity. In this world, the first princess of the Misurugi Empire, Angelize, is shocked to discover that she is a Norma – a person who cannot utilise Mana. Stripped of everything she knows, she exiles herself to a remote island where she meets other Norma; girls who ride humanoid robots in battle against dragons that are invading from a different dimension.|
As soon as I saw Sunrise was involved with the series I knew mecha were going to be involved, and the plot synopsis only confirmed this. Again, as I like saying, mecha isn’t my favourite, but the difference in plot setting ie, not angsty teenagers in space, might convince me to give this one a look at least.
Given the background, I’m hoping that there’s a decent bit of focus on character growth, because there’s definitely scope for it – when one accustomed to a luxurious life has everything taken from her and gets thrown into daily battles, there has to be some time spent on coming to terms with a set of unfamiliar circumstances. If she jumps into the cockpit and becomes a hero on her first day I’m going to be disappointed.
I can only hope.
