An announcement was made last week that comedy manga Shokugeki no Souma (Food Wars: Shokugeki no Souma) has been scheduled for anime production.
The series follows Souma, who works at his family’s restaurant with his father, who is a culinary master. Souma dreams of becoming a full-time chef at the restaurant, and also to some day surpass his father’s skills, so he quite often has cooking battles with his father.
As Souma graduates middle school, however, his father closes down the restaurant and moves to America to cook there – but challenges Souma to enroll at a certain elite culinary school that is difficult to enter, and apparently even more difficult to graduate from.
The manga, with the story by Tsukuda Yuuto and illustrations by Saeki Shun, has been running since 2012 and currently consists of 10 volumes. The anime itself is scheduled to air in 2015 sometime, but there are no definite dates just yet.
