Hirotaka Akagi’s high-school comedy light novel Shimoneta to Iu Gainen ga Sonzai Shinai Taikutsu na Sekai, has been green-lit for production. It’s another one of of those killer titles that’s actually more of a plot description than anything else, but the name translates – more or less – as A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn’t Exist.
The story takes place in a country where the Law for Public Order and Morals in Healthy Child-Raising has banned such things as dirty language and obscene jokes. This would be pretty boring, I suppose, since dirty jokes are often the best ones.
In any case, Tanukichi Okuma is a new student at an elite public morals school, and gets blackmailed somehow into joining the Anti-Societal Organization, and as part of the club’s activities participates in acts of terrorism – albeit unwillingly – against the student council president, Anna. Dirty jokes in public … check.
Problem being that he has a crush on said girl, so his love-life is going to become rather complicated.
Seven volumes are currently in print – but no further details on the production are available just yet.
